Inclusive Business

Product chains against poverty

The Alliance for Inclusive Business between SNV (Dutch organization for development cooperation) and WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) which operated in Latin America promotedĀ a private-sector led strategy for inclusive development, incorporatingĀ small producers into sustainable value chains, stimulating employment generation and the role of the private sector- led program designed to promote social development linking small producers with large companies, in poverty alleviation. The programme was taken up and replicated by Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Central and South America.

LASO carried out the final evaluation of the SNV-WBCSD Alliance (2011-2012): an institutional and impact study coveringĀ  six countries (Peru, Bolivia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Ecuador and Honduras) and sectors such as renewable energy (biofuels), food (coffee, dairy) and others.
