The MasterLab research project on media, human rights and peace entails the creation of a specialized laboratory to monitor the news coverage on human rights and the peace agreements in Colombia by large national communication media. It proposes a rigorous study of this information through discourse analysis and cultural semiotics, within a theoretical framework of conflict resolution.

It also proposes a dissemination strategy and an institutional-technological support, through a web platform and a series of seminars/ extension courses. This, in order to promote the social appropriation of knowledge and train the population in the critical and responsible consumption of media.

LASO participates together with the local NGO MasterPeace Cali, which co-ordinates the project, and Valle Department University (Cali, Colombia). The international MasterPeace movement (Utrecht) and the local government are also involved.
